The main aim of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between WASD and Effat University is to publish the biannual journal “Middle Eastern Journal of Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Sustainable Development (MEJELSD)”. In the MOA, WASD issued new ISSN and ISBN for the journal. WASD used reasonable endeavours to ensure that all editorial relationships and networks are retained as part of the agreement. WASD also includes a link from the journal webpages to EFFAT website.
  • The first journal edition is published after six months of signing the agreement.
  • WASD and Effat are jointly responsible for the Editorial work and Editorial Advisory Board management for the lifetime of the journal. Editorial Advisory board will have the Effat representation. Both parties will develop modus operandi to realise this work.
  • The scope of the journal will be reflective of the content published and will be reviewed annually jointly by WASD and Effat. Both parties will provide list of editors and reviewers which will be jointly approved. From Effat University it will include the department chairs and the dean of the college of business for the papers relevant to their fields.

The purpose of the journal is:

  1. To bring together the research community in the fields of concentration from Middle East
  2. To publish the scholarly work of the research community in the fields of concentration from Middle East and else where
  3. To also publish work researched in other parts of the world when the editorial board will be confident that this research will contribute to the understanding of the entrepreneurs based in the Middle East.
  4. To help and assist the academic and managerial community to learn and understand the developments in the fields of journal concentration in the Middle East
  5. Papers can address topics theoretically or empirically through either a descriptive or critical approach. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to:
    • Entrepreneurship research and studies in Middle East Role of Women in Economic Growth and sustainable Development in Middle East
    • Knowledge-based economy and sustainable development in Middle East Intra-preneurship in Middle East
    • Leadership in Middle East

Today I congratulate the College of Business, Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Center and Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research for their efforts to bring this journal to life. The role of WASD (World Association for Sustainable Development) journal on Sustainable Development in this endeavor has been undeniable, robust, professional and helpful. With this partnership we aim to bring out two issues per year. This journal readiness and publishing has taken sometime and went through numerous challenges successfully but we worked tirelessly with WASD and achieved the goal. We aim to provide latest research on the different aspects of entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, women empowerment, women development that would assist the national efforts to bring further prosperity in the kingdom and across the world.

Welcome to Effat University and WASD (World Association for Sustainable Development) journal on Sustainable Development, Entrepreneurship and Leadership. Currently the Kingdom is going through a huge transformation at economic and sustainable development arena through our coveted Vision 2030. The entrepreneurship and SME development is one of the fundamental dynamics of this vision. Effat University always strives to empower women of the kingdom by equipping them with tools necessary. I believe this journal will help and assist the young women in all aspects of their startup to a successful business venture with latest technologies and expert assistance.
