Mastering Artificial Intelligence and Leadership in Healthcare          
Two Days Workshop       REGISTRATION

Saturday and Sunday (23-24) November 2024

The workshop will be facilitated by three of the world-renowned experts in Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Management and Leadership, Professors Dhiya Al-Jumeily, Hongmei (Mary) He and Allam Ahmed .

This workshop has been designed to introduce a variety of fundamental perspectives on Digital Transformation (DT), Leadership and Organizational Excellence in Healthcare. More focus in the workshop will be on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science (DS) and Knowledge Management (KM) to build future leaders in  the healthcare sector who are able to respond to the ever-growing challenges facing the future initiatives in healthcare particularly digital health.

The workshop aims to enable leaders in the healthcare sector and decision makers to introduce fit-for-purpose AI, DS and KM applications and approaches to their organisations to respond to evolving challenges. The workshop will therefore explain why tools such as AI, Robotics, etc can be suitable for certain types of problems and how AI solutions can be designed and developed to improve the quality of citizen’s life.

Participants will be enlightened on how much AI and other tools has the potential to make our lives better in almost all fields particularly in the healthcare sector. It gives us the tools necessary to learn from and capitalise on human experience and perform complex tasks such as recommending solutions based on processing large amounts of data.

Topics will include but not limited to:

  1. AI-driven diagnostics, image analysis, and the integration of AI in medical devices and imaging technologies.
  2. Deep understanding of DT and their underpinnings theories and models with more emphasis on healthcare.
  3. AI and evidence based medical research.
  4. AI revolution in healthcare.
  5. Role of robotics in healthcare, covering areas such as surgical robots, rehabilitation robotics, and robotic assistance in patient care.
  6. Latest advancements and potential future developments in healthcare robotics.
  7. AI and novel technologies for on-spot identification of counterfeit and substandard medicines
  8. Personal development planning.
  9. Leadership in healthcare.

Professor Dhiya Al-Jumeily

Prof. Al-Jumeily OBE has 30+ years experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning. In 2020, Prof Al-Jumeily was appointed by her majesty “THE QUEEN to the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, “OBE- Ordinary Officers of the Civil Division of the said Most Excellent Order” for the “Services to Scientific Research”- https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3703557.  Within healthcare field Prof Al-Jumeily developed SMART applications for disease diagnosis and management that are currently used by patients in the UK, UAE and Iraq. On the scientific community level, Prof Al-Jumeily established the eSystems Engineering Society (eSES) that has contributors from researchers and scientists at worldwide. The eSES activities include intelligent patient management system; datasets and databanks; DeSE annual and international conference; accredited professional courses; and the International Journal of Data Science and Advanced Analytics. On the research funding level, Prof Al-Jumeily attracted more than £7.5M of funding and published >350 publications. His vision is to spread research openly to everyone who needs it at global level.

Professor Hongmei (Mary) He

Prof. Hongmei (Mary) He (FHEA, SIEEE) is Professor of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Robotics in the School of Science, Engineering, and Environment at the University of Salford (Mary He | University of Salford) and Turing Liaison Academic for membership of the Salford Turing University Network. She is a passionate advocate of AI and an expert in human-centred AI for trustworthy robotics and trustworthy autonomous systems (TRAS). She has also done a lot of research in cognitive cybersecurity, data science, computational theory and optimisation. She received her PhD in Computer Science from Loughborough University, UK in 2006. She was a senior embedded systems engineer at Motorola Design House in China. Mary is Chair of the task force of AI and Edge Computing for TRAS on the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society's Technical Committee on Adaptive and Dynamic Programming and Reinforcement Learning and Chair of the IEEE UK & Ireland RAS Chapter. PhD in Computer Science, Loughbirough University, UK, 2006.

Professor Allam Ahmed
Professor of Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development; Co-Founder of SMART KM MODEL: An Integrated Knowledge Management Framework for Organizational Excellence and led the implementation of the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Knowledge Management Framework (KMF) Musharaka. Founding President of World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD); Founding Director of SDGs Universities International Initiative (SDGsUNI); Founding Director of Middle Eastern Knowledge Economy Institute (MEKEI); Founder, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Transfer of Technology (UNESCOTT), the International Diaspora Initiative/Sudan Knowledge (SK). Fellow Faculty of Public Health (FPH), UK; Fellow Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK; and Fellow (FAWB) Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development (AWBMMD) Australia. Early 2022, Professor Ahmed joint Queen Mary University of London Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry as a Honorary Professor and Senior Policy Fellow at Queen Mary University of London Global Policy Institute (QMGPI). Prior to Queen Mary, Professor Ahmed spent 15 years (2004-2019) at the University of Sussex Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) (1st science and policy think tank in the UK) where he established and led Sussex’s most successful postgraduate programme MSc International Management.

What will you learn
  1. Participants will have insight into the future of healthcare in the Digital Transformation (DT) era including issues to do with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science (DS), and Knowledge Management (KM), etc.

  3. Learn about how can AI improve evidence based medical research.
  4. Understand how AI is revolutionising healthcare, with a particular emphasis on medical imaging. Topics could include AI-driven diagnostics, image analysis, and the integration of AI in medical devices and imaging technologies.
  5. Explore the role of robotics in healthcare, covering areas such as surgical robots, rehabilitation robotics, and robotic assistance in patient care. Also includes the latest advancements and potential future developments in healthcare robotics.
  6. Learn about AI and novel technologies for on-spot identification of counterfeit and substandard medicines
  7. In addition,  critical analysis; interactive and team working; creativity; and problem solving. This course will utilise personal development planning for work life balance and career goals as well as complementing the different management skills already developed through earlier other (if any) management training and courses such as effective time management and monitoring tools.
Program Structure
  • There will be an activity or set of activities for each session which will be designed to help you engage with the introduction to the theories explored within the workshop.
  • Your Facilitator will be on hand to guide you through the programme and will expect you to bring personal experience and reflection on the topics covered.
  • Group work will be required for participants to engage in the workshop. Such activity allows participants to embed the new knowledge within their experience through active discussion and challenge.
